marmalade air

it's obvious, like chocolate,
it's a raspberry hot-eyed afternoon teacake
choking you when you talk of
the sour cream boys I call friend
like I ought to call them cornbread enemies;
it's obvious like chocolate that you
disapprove.

but it's necessary, like custard,
for me to be here, apple-dear
I am the slice green cucumber I miss you
but it's necessary, like melon and meringue
that I be sometimes here and sometimes
in the land of ginger crackers and cinnamon tea.

but meet me downtown in the marmalade air
and I have a secret I will tell you.

  1. can i just say that this is possibly the most intensely GENIUS piece of writing you have ever put your little mind to?

i don't mean to insult you at all; i could never write something as brilliant as this.

perhaps because i did not read your explanation, i overestimated its genius; but even after i read your dedication, the meaning of this post drove itself into my cranium.

    ode to your specialty, <3

  2. p.s. i thought the first verse could apply to our varying evaluations of beat poets... but it is even more than that!

  3. Rumi said to
    "find a friend and hide."
